Director Siddharth Anand has already worked with Vishal and Shekhar on every film he has made before which meant an already established comfort and harmony; so definitely the expectations from the music of ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ are not just high – but, very high! The real challenge laid in how to reinvent the collaboration to produce something new, fresh and immense depth which went along with the spirit of the film. And with not just one or two, but NINE refined lyricists – the result is an album that will appeal to every mood of the listener.

The opening track of the album, which also happens to be first of the twin title songs ‘Anjaana Anjaani ki kahaani’ is high-spirited, foot-tapping number which will surely make its quick way to parties and discs. The dance steps are also quite catchy, so this one is here to stay in this festive season. Nice mix of English and Hindi; also singers Nikhil D’Souza and Monali Thakur have done complete justification to it.

Second track ‘Hairat’ is the oh-so-perfect long drive companion. It’s like long open road drive (though you need to be lucky enough to catch ‘traffic-free’ road in Delhi; may be you can try DnD flyover) – and this will be the best speaker-testing song for you. Lucky Ali voice has something which always requires one to be with himself/herself to actually absorb the music and relish its true flavor!

Third track ‘Aas paas khuda’ brings along soulful voice of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and the inspiring lyrics from Vishal and Shekhar leave you wanting for more. Nice, hum-along song reflecting new-age style of direct communication with God – western-sufi style… Though there is surely Rahat’s atleast one track in every bollywood flick, the way he imbibes his sufi style to all of them and yet keep them different is truly cherishing!

Fourth track ‘Tumse hi tumse’ takes you back to fun-n-masti with this cute first-love kinda song. This also brings along mix of equal Hindi – English lyrics; Shekhar has sung it absolute style; adding to awesome lyrics penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya. This one is sure to catch with loving hearts who are living with butterflies in their stomach wondering whether this attraction is love or is it infatuation

Fifth track ‘Tujhe bhula diya’ is sure to make your heart skip a beat right in its initial 15-20 seconds of Shruti Pathak folk touch. Mohit Chauhan is surely becoming ‘one-track-must-in-movie’ kinda. He is simply setting higher benchmarks with every new song. This one beautifully defines the constant confused state of every romantic heart –– loves me / loves me not… Song begins on a folksy note, and gradually swings you from sufi to urban tone… Straight from heart lyrics put together by Kumaar and Vishal Dadlani, makes you hum along right from the first time you hear this… Once again Mohit Chauhan touches your soul with this new track and we bet if Shruti Pathak doesn’t remind you of your lost love.

Sexy six… Yes, that’s what you will say for the sixth track from the album ‘I feel good’ … Normally as far as the trend goes, by the time CD comes to fourth or fifth song, you can start expecting unplugged or remixed versions of the prior tracks; however Vishal-Shekhar’s ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ pampers your lovey-dovey heart with this song before it takes you to closing-tour of the album. This track again has nice mix of English-Hindi – standing true to the overall young theme of the album. Lyrics of Vishal Dadlani and sung by himself along with Shilpa Rao adding the oomph factor in true teenage style, this song actually makes you feel good in a nice happy-go-lucky way!

Seventh Heaven… O yes! The Seventh track ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ is another twin of the title song and openly–happily confirms that this album has seven full fledged tracks to offer. (aur, wo bhi ek par ek aise bhaari – qatal – killer; someone please pinch me, am I dreaming - I can’t stop myself from saying right away that this album is a must buy!) Ok, so coming back to the point; Shilpa Rao and Vishal Dadlani singing together again, and yet so very differently from the previous track, still so convincingly touching your heart deep inside some place, where you keep your emotions secret – this track directly connects you there. So, enjoy the experience!

Last two tracks; define the ‘closing-tour’ of the album – yes, ‘closing-tour’ – that’s the term I love to use to define unplugged/remixes of bollywood albums  ‘Tujhe bhula diya [remix]’ is simply ‘The-dance-to-forget-mix’ and ‘Aas paas khuda [unplugged]’ is lovely presentation of the sufi track in a more romantic-like way with Shruti Pathak joining in this track for a further slow – subdued flavor to the Rahat’s soulful style.

Finally, this album connects to every emotion of yours – simply, must buy sorta! It’s young, spunky and most importantly an album that will be alive much after the film as well..! Enjoyyiiieeee

Musical Cheers :)
